My mother emigrated from France 30 years ago. At her first job interview as a doctor, in a known Israeli hospital, they told her:

You do not know the language, go back to France.

She did not give up and has built herself with both hands. Today my mother is a known, influential and valued professor in her field.

But, I feel she will always have the young French doctor in her head. The woman who got told she doesn’t belong here. The gap between those two women is intriguing.

This gap: The dichotomy between the two women represented by my mother  is what I tried to examine in this project.
